When The Urban Muse first opened in Denville, it was our greatest desire to not only be a go-to destination, but a vital member of the community.

Co-Owners Kristin and Tracy Pamperin took many steps to connect.  They got involved in the Denville Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Committee, and more. When Urban Muse Spa Manager Denise Joy Ridner approached them with the idea to start a free clinic for cancer patients, they didn’t hesitate to make it happen.

The Melpomene Wellness Clinic was a collaborative effort brought to Life by Denise Joy, Brandy Johnson (an Oncology Social Worker at Saint Clares), and Tracy and Kristin. It started as a monthly clinic in 2005 with great success.

A New Year is Upon Us

A New Year is Upon Us

"Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.
There are a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the ground.
Out beyond ideas of rightdoing and wrongdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.
"  - Rumi

Long ago, someone very special sent me that quote from the ecstatic poet, Rumi. At first blush, Rumi's poetry seems to be about his romantic lover, but the ecstacy of which he speaks is in proclaiming his connectedness and love for the Divine. He [and the whirling dervishes] danced and moaned in ecstacy in their love for God. They did not care what anyone else thought about their behavior because they were so caught up in their Divine ecstacy!

As we watch the day turn to evening on the eve of a New Year, rather then making traditional resolutions as in years past to lose weight, to work-out every day and the like, let's commit to simply being our best and most Divine selves everyday. Regardless of 'rightdoing or wrongdoing', you are perfect exactly as you are and are a fragment of God. There are 'a thousand ways to kneel and kiss the ground' so do so in whatever manner you see fit to be connected and in awe of the Divine in yourself.

Wishing you a blessed, healthy and abundant New Year!

The ‘Other’ Apocalypse

The ‘Other’ Apocalypse

Although many had predicted doom & gloom for December 21st, 2012 based on the Mayan calendar ending with the prophecy of an apocalyptic world end, the world as we know it did not end. Or did it?

What if the message was misunderstood or garbled as it gets in that game we played as children called 'telephone'? What if the message from the Mayans was not 'world ending' but 'war ending'? What if the "end" was to intolerance, injustice, inequality, lack of respect and hate?  What if the "end" brought peace to the world; to each other; to you? What if the "apocalypse" was the "other apocalypse", bringing love to the world rather then destruction?

The prophecies for 2012 were many. That which I choose to believe and share is this: In 2012, all illusions will fall away...easily if we surrender and release them or with force, suffering and challenge if we choose to hang on too tightly. Anything that you were holding onto in 2012 that was not supporting you in your journey no longer exists. Think about that for a moment. What did you 'lose' this year? Was it 'real' and therefore in alignment with your spirit; the essence of you? Your soul? Or was it an illusion of what you wanted your life to look like and be? If you lost it, then the likelihood is that it was not supporting you in your journey towards your true North, connected to a Higher Power and to the Universe.

If we "get what we give" (like energy attracts like energy), then let's offer tolerance, justice, equality, respect and love to ourselves, to each other and to the world. This energetic raises your vibration or consciousness and raises the collective consciousness of the world.

I belive this to be the Mayan message of 2012.

Be Love. Be Peace. Be Your True North.

Abundance Awareness

Abundance Awareness

Recently I became aware of a '21 Day Abundance' meditation series offered through the Chopra Center. This was offered in early November, before Thanksgiving, which I thought was a lovely practice to prepare myself for feeling abundant in the the true spirit for the 'Giving of Thanks'. My initial reaction to this offer was "How much does it cost?".

That reaction alone to an Abundance meditation series was enough to signal me that I was experiencing a lack of abundance awareness and in need of some intervention! It turns out that the series was being offered free of charge to all in an effort to raise collective consciousness for abundance globally. Nothing to lose and everything to gain!

I am currently on Day 11 of Round ll of the Abundance meditations which is a guided meditation for 15 minutes every day. The series is presented extremely well, is very accessible and is profpoundly changing my life.

As the daily practice makes clear, abundance isn't just about 'more'; its about a balance of abundance in life in all ways...prosperity, love, health, spirituality, nature, happiness, romance...every aspect of our lives. In this giving time of year when we are all challenged in some way, and particularly for those hit so hard by Hurricane Sandy, I encourage you to expand your awareness of abundance for true inner and outer peace.

Here is the link for the meditation series, with a single meditation offered free of charge. The fee for the series...nominal; the benefit to you and to the world...enormous!

Connecting with Angel Energy

Connecting with Angel Energy
Posted by Shelagh in SpaWellness on 10/06/12 | 0 Comments

I believe in Angels. I ask for support & guidance from them daily.

My belief in angels has been fortified this past week with several 'angel encounters', specifically with Michael the Archangel. There are seven total Archangels, each with a specific purpose. Michael is the leader of all the angels. He is the protector of our physically, emotionally and spiritually well-being and is in charge of courage, strength, truth and integrity. His chief function is to rid the world of the toxins associated with fear. He protects the 5th chakra, the throat chakra, to provide courage to speak from integrity with our truth. He radiates the color sapphire blue.

I have always known to ask for help and guidance from the angels because I know that they will not interfere with my free will. How do I know that I have been communicating (asking & receiving) with the angels, specifically with Michael the Archangel? Because he provides obvious physical signs, and many times with a sense of humor!

I own a 2001 finicky Saab which requires extra 'TLC'. Recently she has had trouble starting her engine. She eventually starts but only when she's good & ready. My physical mechanic had to diagnose her (time consuming) and order her a special part, which took 7 days to arrive. There were times during that wait when I simply could not be late, so I began asking for the help of the angels. Every time, she started, only to find out later that Michael is the angel of mechanical things, like cars. A spiritual mechanic!

Other physical signs for me to pay attention? Being shown an important ring design in the clear outline of an angel--a sapphire blue stone angel; finding a long lost laminated sketch of Michael; being given a pin of Michael by a dear friend; learning that my son's birthday (born 3 weeks premature) is on Michael's Feast Day, Sept 29th, and he is imbued with 11:11 energy.

Blessings, each one, for which I am grateful.

How can you connect with your angel team? Journal, with the intention of connecting with the angels. Ask for Divine guidance and support in every aspect of your life and watch what your pen writes! Try it, and notice the miracles in your life.
